Where ecology happens all day long

Gordale Garden Centre, Wirral is a great day out for budding ecologists.

More than a great garden centre, Gordale offers tremendous scope for teachers who want their children to learn more about the natural world we live in whilst meeting key stages of the curriculum.

We welcome school parties of all sizes and can tailor our walks, talks and demonstrations to meet your education goals. Whilst creating awareness of the living environment around us and an understanding of how the food we eat is grown.

Our hands on sessions take place in a safe, informative and fun environment and offers opportunities for youngsters to sew a seed and learn about plants, flowers and minibeasts.

We also pay a good deal of attention to the marvellous work done by the bees, birds and butterflies which inhabit our gardens and the benefits of companion planting as a way to increase bio diversity and create a healthier garden without the need for insecticides.
And we work hard to make our walks and talks informative and enjoyable with a mixture of activities designed to encourage discovery, conservation and learning.

At Gordale we regularly cater for large groups of all ages and take your safety very seriously and have trained first aiders on site at all times.
Our paths and walkways are suitable for the less able and should you wish, wheelchairs are available from reception.

Entrance is free, but please book at least four weeks in advance. Availability in April and May is strictly limited. Our sessions last approximately one hour but groups are welcome to use and explore the facilities at Gordale after sessions booked.

Learn about:
Garden plants and how they grow: how we can interact.
Herbs and vegetables: easy to grow and delicious to eat.
The changing seasons: the colours, sights and sounds.
What’s in soil? What sort do plants love?
Insects and minibeasts: bugs, beetles, birds and bees all in our back gardens.

Don’t forget to keep an eye out for our resident peacock, Anthony.

Contact Jonathan Briers, our Garden Centre Manager, on 0151 336 2116 for more information.
