Bonsai, as an art form, dates back as far as the 4th Century, and originated in China, but swiftly spread to Korea and Japan. Within the last 100 years the popularity of bonsai has dramatically increased and can now be found throughout the world.

Gain insight into the world of bonsai, and their magical beauty. Our friendly staff will be on hand to offer support and advice. There will also be wonderful displays, informative talks and demonstrations happening throughout the bank holiday weekend.

Large and varied selection of bonsai trees for sale, including starter trees plus guidance from Kyoto Bonsai, pots from Walsall Ceramics and tools and equipment from Green Dragon Bonsai.

Meet award-winning Bonsai expert John Armitage.

John’s love of bonsai started at the age of 12. He joined the Yorkshire Bonsai Association at 14, and shortly after began classes with Dan Barton, his life long friend. At 18 he began the first bonsai business in Yorkshire from his parents’ garden and later opened a shop in Leeds.

He spent many years in Japan with bonsai master, Nobuichi Urushibata, at his Taisho en nursery in Shizuoka, thereby sparking his love of smaller bonsai. John is in great demand as a leading bonsai authority, in particular Shohin.
